Home Decorating Trends For The New Year

Chances are, when you first considered purchasing a home at the Lake of the Ozarks, you imagined filling your rooms with unique home decor and accents that reflect your taste and style. Whether you enjoy updating your home often or you're still collecting the perfect pieces, Mission Bay would like to share some interior decorating trends you may be able to incorporate in your current or future home at Mission Bay!

Go Green...and we're talking bright green!

Bring on the bright, cheery shades of green for 2017. At the Lake of the Ozarks, greenery is abundant and the lush lakeshore is one of the things we adore. Let's bring that fresh revitalizing color indoors and incorporate it on our walls, upholstery, and table tops.

Scenes From Nature...we're talking butterflies and more!

Look forward to a buoyant, happy motif in home design going forward. It's okay to celebrate the whimsical characters in nature like, butterflies, hummingbirds and dragonflies - no longer designated to children's rooms but used in a variety of spaces. Think - wallpaper, accessories, and sculpture.

Mixed Up...pattern lovers look out!

Keep your eyes out for statement pieces to be colorful and different. Mixing materials, patterns and mismatched designs are no longer considered, "too busy", but enticing and can create a sophisticated warmth while highlighting your personal style. Try using two different end tables next to your bed, or add that wildly patterned bed duvet you've been unsure about trying.

Navy...the new black...and beige!

If a home update is in store for the new year, consider using navy blue to accent your rooms or update your kitchen cabinets. A modern twist with a traditional feel, navy blue paris well will nearly any color scheme.

Texture...texture, texture!

Incorporate texture to add visual and tactile appeal to your home. Designers are predicting a lot of material manipulation such as pleating and folding, buttons, stitching and beautiful yarns. A velvet sofa is a creative way to add texture to your living room but if you're thinking of starting smaller, add some plush woven throw pillows.

Each year, new trends dominate home decor headlines. If you're still deciding where and how to update your home decor for the new year, try incorporating some of the decorating tips shared here. From designing the perfect home to enjoying it with friends and family, when you choose a luxury Mission Bay residence,  you know you'll have a stunning backdrop to work with. Our lakefront and lakeview homes at the Lake of the Ozarks are designed for luxury living and provide the perfect place to make your waterfront living dream a reality.

Beat the Winter Time Blues at the Lake

Lake of the Ozarks may be well-known for sun and fun, but it has plenty of cold-weather activities for those that are getting cabin fever and even want to face Old Man Winter head on.  Here are a few ideas:

Fairly new to the lake is The Ice at Old Kinderhook, an outdoor ice skating rink at the beautiful lodge in Camdenton.  The cost is $13 per person, which includes the skate rental. They also offer pond hockey and broomball. There is a small seating area with firepits, and bar/concession stand around the rink so the whole family can enjoy!

Lazer Force in Osage Beach is an action packed way to spend an afternoon in blacklights, fog, and heart pumping music! This real life lazer tag is guaranteed to get anyone out of a wintertime funk! This is fun for all ages!

If the kids can't wait to get back in the water, then spend the day at Timber Falls at Tan-Tar-A Resort. This indoor waterpark has 600 feet of slides, an activity pool, 21 seat hot tub, lazy river, and locker rooms.

Reminiscent of an old miner town, Miner Mike's and Buster's is an indoor family fun center with over 35,000 sq. ft. of rides, games, and simulators.  The little ones will have a ball in the maze, and riding the Runaway Mine Train and Chuck Wagon Ferris Wheel.  Older kids and adults will be challenged by the high tech games at Buster's and a 20 ft. long custom shuffle board table. There is a snack bar that even serves pizza and burgers and Longbranch Saloon is located on the Buster's side of the complex.  Be sure to collect your tickets, and trade them in for prizes!
