Spring Cleaning Tips For The Kitchen

One room in the house that may look clean on the surface, but may secretly be lurking with hidden items that need to be cleaned is the kitchen. We often rush to put away groceries without taking the time to throw away the items that aren't good anymore. Sometimes the hardest part about conquering the kitchen chaos is not knowing where to begin. If you are in the midst of spring cleaning your Lake of the Ozarks home and need some tips on how to deep clean your kitchen, Mission Bay is here to help. Clear off the counter, wipe them clean and let's get started!

Cleaning The Pantry

Take out all the food in the pantry and place them on the table or countertop. Check the labels and toss the items that are expired, stale, inedible, etc. If there are any items that you know your family won't eat, set them aside for donation. Wipe down the shelves with soapy water or kitchen cleaner. When putting the items back into the cabinet, create a separate area for the open items, arrange like items together and put the oldest items in the front and the newest in the back.

Cleaning The Refridgerator

Next, empty the refrigerator and freezer and place the items on the table or countertop. Toss any items that are expired, moldy, inedible, etc. Wipe down the shelves with soapy water or kitchen cleaner. Remove the produce drawers and wash them well. Put the food back and arrange like items together. Remove any excess magnets and unneeded papers and clean and/or polish the exterior.

Organizing The Storage Cupboard

Remove all items from the storage cupboards or shelves and place items on countertop or table. As you're removing items, toss or donate any items that are broken, unwanted, unnecessary or that you haven't used in over a year. Set aside any seasonal items that only get used once or twice a year to be placed with other seasonal items in storage. Wipe down all shelves with soapy water or kitchen cleaner. Determine whether you can rearrange any of your storage areas to make your kitchen more efficient. When placing items back into the cupboards, group like items together.

Organizing The Storage Drawers

Remove all the items from the drawers and place on the counters or table. Just like with the cupboards, as you remove the items, toss or donate any items that are broken, unwanted, unnecessary or that you haven't used in over a year. Set aside any seasonal items that only get used once a year to be placed with other seasonal items in storage. Wipe down all drawers with soapy water or kitchen cleaner and wash any drawer organizers. Determine whether you can rearrange any of the storage drawers to make your kitchen more efficient. Group like items together when placing items back into the drawers.

Cleaning The Appliances

Wipe down the microwave inside and out. For the dishwasher, clean and/or polish the exterior. Don't forget, however, that the item that cleans the dishes also needs to be cleaned, so wipe down the inside of the dishwasher as well. Follow manufacturer's instruction for running the self-cleaning cycle on the oven, as well as, clean and/or polish the exterior. Clean and/or polish the stovetop, and wipe down small countertop appliances such as the toaster and blender.

Once you've finished your spring cleaning, you can finally start enjoying your beautiful, and now clean, home at the Lake of the Ozarks. At Mission Bay, we offer beautiful spring views of the Lake. Stop by soon to see what our lovely Lake of the Ozarks residential community has to offer. Our Lake view and Lakefront home at the Lake of the Ozarks are just a 6-minute drive from Camdenton. 3 Tips For Stocking Your Second Home At The Lake Of The Ozarks

If you recently bought a second home at the Lake of the Ozarks, you probably can't wait to get into it quickly. However, you may also be wondering how you're going to stock it. You stock a vacation home a little differently than you would your primary residence. While you will want to spend as much time at your Lake of the Ozarks home, you don't use it the same way as you do your primary residence. Mission Bay has three tips to help you stock your new home at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Take Duplicates

After buying your second home at the Lake of the Ozarks, take a look around your primary place of residence. Is there anything there you have duplicates of? Could you skim down your kitchen utensils? How many towels do you use every week? You may be surprised at how much stuff you already have that you can bring to your new home at the Lake of the Ozarks. It also can't hurt to ask friends and family if they have any extra items they are not needing. You never know what could be lying around not being used.

Shop The Thrift Stores

Thrift stores are a great way to decorate and stock your second home. Usually, they are priced well and you can find almost everything you need from kitchen items to home decor. The Lake of the Ozarks has a bunch of great thrift store you can peruse through. The great thing about these kind of stores is that their inventory is constantly changing. While you may not have found the perfect item for your Lake of the Ozarks home the first time, keep coming back, you never know what you may find!

What's The Purpose?

Take a look at what the purpose of your home at the Lake of the Ozarks is. Is it only going to be used on occasional weekends or are you going to be spending several months there at a time? You may be needing different types of items depending on how you are going to be using it. If you are only using it on weekends during the summer, you may not need a crockpot. However, you may be considering it, if you are going to be there for a while.

While the Lake of the Ozarks is a wonderful place to spend the summer, it's also a great place to live year round. At Mission Bay, our Lake of the Ozarks residential community is built for full-time Lake living. We offer great amenities that our residents can enjoy no matter the season. To learn more about living at the Lake of the Ozarks year round, visit our website at www.MissionBayLakeOzark.com or call 573-346-6600.
