Winter Activities at the Lake of the Ozarks

While cruising the Lake in the hot summer sun may be one of the most enjoyed activities here at the Lake of the Ozarks, there's still fun to be had during the Winter season! The waters may be cold, but the view is still spectacular. From shopping to shows, Lake of the Ozarks has plenty of activities for you to enjoy even when the temperature outside is a little chilly. Mission Bay has put together a list of some of the best Winter activities at the Lake for you to check out!

Osage Beach Premium Outlets

Shopping at the Lake of the Ozarks is a year-round activity at the Lake of the Ozarks. However, with the amount of time you spend on the water during the Summer, you may not have much time to get your shopping in. Why not take a trip to the Lake during the Winter? Get your Summer shopping done early and enjoy the outdoors when you come back for Summer 2015! The 110 outlet mall in Osage Beach has plenty of variety to fit the needs of each person in your household.

Bridal Cave

Centuries ago the Osage Native American Indians discovered the pristine beauty that lies beneath Thunder Mountain. Local folklore tells of a legendary Native American Indian wedding ceremony held in the cave in the early 1800s. Today this magnificent natural wonderland is called Bridal Cave. In keeping with the tradition of the Native American legend, the Cave can be reserved for a romantic wedding chapel. Over 2,500 couples from around the world have exchanged vows in the stalactite adorned Bridal Chapel.

Guided tours leave every few minutes and last approximately one hour.  Tours are conducted over concrete pathways through the Cave's refreshing 60 degree environment.   Park interpreters will lead you and your family through room after room of incredible mineral deposits. Giant columns, delicate soda straws and massive draperies abound throughout the cave. Millions of years of struggle between water and rock have created this cavern with more onyx formations than any other known cave or cavern. In fact thousands of school children each year explore Bridal Cave as part of their educational program.  A tour through Bridal Cave is a family adventure you will never forget.

Jacob's Cave

Jacob's Cave is Lake of the Ozarks' largest and most scenic cave. One of Missouri's top tourist attractions, this cave offers family fun that caters to all ages with a fully lit and paved walkway that is completely handicap accessible with no steps. Jacob's Cave is famous for it's depth illusion, reflective pools, ceiling sponge-work, prehistoric bones (mastodon, bear and peccary), and the world's largest geode.

On the mile-long tour, you will see every type of cave formation imaginable, from millions of "soda straws" and massive stalactites and columns, to delicate helectites. Evidence of six ice ages and three earthquakes can be seen in the cave. The temperature remains a constant 53 degrees inside the cave. Located between Versailles and Gravois Mills off Missouri Hwy 5, Jacob's Cave is the largest cave in the Lake area and is the only walk through cave in Missouri that is completely accessible to persons with disabilities.

So what are you waiting for...Lake of the Ozarks is the place to be anytime of year! You can even get off-season discounts at many lodging places and golf courses. While you're here, check out our new residential development at the Lake of the Ozarks.  We have open houses every Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 3 PM. Mission Bay could be your new home or even a second home, a place for you to enjoy living at the Lake of the Ozarks!

8 Home Trends for 2015

Each year we see new and exciting trends across all the industries.  New products are emerging and new design trends are popping up in businesses and homes everywhere. You would think with all the technology changes that home trends would be moving to more high-tech levels. However, we're actually starting to see a reaction against all these gadgets, generating a need for a simpler, cozier escape in the home. According to Details.com, here are several home trends you can expect to see more of in 2015. Try some of these out in your home at the Lake of the Ozarks!

1. Large, Comfy Sectionals

Although sectionals have been around for quite awhile now, they're coming back!  Since living rooms have evolved into a relaxing place for lounging around, we have less of a need for a formal living room setup. Rather than having a typical sofa, we want a more versatile, soft area that we can sprawl out on however we wish. With a large, padded sectional, you have a nice place to curl up with a blanket and a good book.  You now have the option of sitting or laying down, all in the same comfy spot!

2. Mixing Old with the New

A kitchen trend we are starting to see a lot of this year, is pairing contemporary chairs with older, rustic tables. While some may say this is because we can't choose between going contemporary or choosing an older style. However, Details.com thinks there's something else behind the popularity of this look. By pairing two things that don't really seem to go together, you're actually drawing emphasis to the best qualities of both.

3. Blue Color Scheme

Color plays a major part in not only the look, but also the feel of a room. In the chaotic world we live in today, our home should act as a retreat from it all, a place to relax.  Blue has traditionally been a calming and relaxing color, making it the perfect color to add to your home.  Whether you're looking to paint the walls a new color or just add some accent pillows and other accessories, blue is a great choice this year!

4. Vintage Tubs

You may have noticed the trend of using vintage style tubs to enhance a bathroom, but this trend is really expected to increase in 2015! Sometimes it's nice to retreat to something simple. Rather than having all the high-tech gadgets such as jets or infinity edges, an old-fashioned tub is the perfect place to soak up some peace and quiet. Another interesting trend we've come across is actually putting these vintage tubs in bedrooms as well. Some people find it luxurious to be able to roll out of bed into a nice, deep tub or vice versa.

5. Four-Poster Beds

Although the four-poster style beds are nothing new, we're seeing more and more of this classic furniture in new home designs. People seem to love the romance that accompanies the pillared pieces. The cube-like style also suggests four walls, providing a more private sanctuary!

6. Black Window Frames

Just like using eyeliner and mascara, drawing a black line around something brings attention to it. The same is true when it comes to housing trends. By adding black trim to a window, you're not only drawing the eye to the beautiful window, but also to the scenery outside!

7. In-Home Libraries

There's something people love about being surrounded by books! In-home libraries are making a come back in 2015, despite the technology transition to e-readers. Libraries preserve memories, memories of characters, words and stories that have touched us in one way or another. The books remind us of where we've been and also who we want to be.

8. Statement Lights

Everyone has that one item that makes a statement of who they are or who they want to be.  Many people express this through sports cars or jewelry, and now fancy lighting is being used to make a statement. The most popular statement lighting we're seeing is the grid-like light fixture. The benefit of these lights is they're beautiful no matter which way the switch is flipped. When the lights are off, they look like a sculpture, but when they're switched on, they cast lovely light and shadow patterns around the room!

Mission Bay offers many options for those looking to become homeowners at the Lake of the Ozarks. From open lots to pre-built town homes, you have the ability to make it your own. Mission Bay boasts an exquisite clubhouse with heated indoor pool and outdoor pool and hot tub for entertaining family and friends. Located just 6 minutes from Camdenton via the improved Highway 5, our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront homes are in the perfect location, right on the 32 MM of the Osage Arm. Stop by one of our open houses every Saturday or Sunday from Noon to 3 PM to check it out!
