Enjoy The Weather This Weekend

The weather is supposed to warm up towards the end of the week and that means it’s time to get outdoors and thaw out. The weather this winter has been freezing so the warmer weather will be welcomed with open arms. Even though spring is still a few weeks away, we will get a glimpse of it towards the end of this week and this weekend. If you live at Mission Bay at the Lake of the Ozarks, you’ll definitely want to get out and enjoy the warm weather while you can. Check out this list of a few activities you can do at the Lake of the Ozarks to enjoy this warmer than freezing weather.

Get Out and Go Hiking

There are many walking and hiking trails at the Lake of the Ozarks. The area is home to several state parks that have many trails for visitors to enjoy. Although winter isn't typically the ideal time to go hiking, with the beautiful weather in the forecast, you won't want to miss an opportunity to go exploring and enjoy the outdoors. Ha Ha Tonka State Park and Lake of the Ozark State Parks both have several trails, so depending on what terrain or length you are wanting to hike, there is something for everyone.

Shop Until You Drop

Lake of the Ozarks is a paradise for those who love to shop. Whether you're browsing or buying, there are many stores for shoppers to visit. From designer stores to small boutiques, the Lake has it all. Many of the shopping centers are open-air, so you can still enjoy the beautiful weather while getting some shopping done. If antique shopping is more your style, there are many antique stores located throughout the Lake of the Ozarks. Many of them even benefit the local community.

Get Out on The Lake and Fish

The Lake of the Ozarks is home to some of the best fishing in the country. With 54,000 acres and over 1,150 miles of shoreline, there is no shortage of great spots to catch some fish. You can find largemouth bass, spotted bass, black and white crappie, blue catfish, channel catfish, flathead catfish, white bass, hybrid stripers, paddlefish, walleye and bluegill in the Lake depending on the season. No matter the season, it's always a great time to go fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Conquer The Clutter

January is a time for fresh beginnings and new starts. People make New Year’s resolutions in hopes of bettering their lives. Whether you made any resolutions or not, now is a great time to rejuvenate your home and to finally declutter and get things organized. If your lakefront home at the Lake of the Ozarks needs some organization, Mission Bay has some great stress-reducing tips that will help you get your home in tip-top shape. It’s easier than you may think!

I Don’t Have Time

One of the main reasons that organization never happens is lack of time. When it comes down to it, we spend the majority of our time on work, our family, school, volunteering, and any other extra circulars. There are only so many hours in the day and it’s easy to lose track of them. There is often little time to clean the house on a daily basis, so throwing in organization can be overwhelming.

The best way to manage this problem is to simply reduce.
Reduce – eliminating any clutter is the best thing we can do to create more time for not only ourselves but also for our family. When there’s less clutter, you have to spend less time cleaning and organizing. Eliminate those things you really don’t use anymore.

I Can’t Find Anything

Having TOO much stuff can not only be overwhelming, but it can make it difficult to actually find the things you need or are looking for. Cutting down on clutter is the best place to start. If your closet is bursting at the seams it may be difficult to find the pair of pants you’ve been looking for, if your kitchen drawers are filled and crowded, it may be hard to find that certain spatula. The list could go on and on. Getting organized may be easier than you think. Once you’ve decluttered your house, start in one room and work your way throughout the rest of the house. Organizing a little at a time will keep you from getting overwhelmed and stressed. Before you know it, your whole house will be decluttered and organized. It’s a win, win.

Forgot Something At Home

Time and time again, people leave the house and have forgotten something they are supposed to bring with them. Whether it’s a receipt you need for a return or a birthday card for a friend, it happens all too often. Having a reminder about those important things before you walk out the door would be helpful.

You can create an organizing system with pockets that hang over the door to hold important items you may need before you leave the house. You can find inexpensive over the door organizers in most stores, or you can create your own. Simple and effective.

Toys Are Everywhere

If you’re a parent, one of the biggest home organization issues you may face is the kids not picking up their toys. By having a specific and dedicated area for their toys, you can teach them to put their toys in their place and they will learn organization skills at an early age.

Use bins to hold the toys. Each bin should hold similar toys to keep them more organized. Kids will also know exactly where to find a certain toy when they are looking for it. Label the bins with the name of the toy or a picture of the toy. This is a great way for kids to learn how to correctly put away their toys, even at a young age.

New Year, New Home

When it comes down to organizing your home, it all starts with decluttering. If organizing your lakefront home at the Lake of the Ozarks is on your resolution list, Mission Bay hopes that these stress-reducing tips help you. Making lists and tackling each room little by little will help you accomplish what may seem like a never-ending task.

Tips For Repainting Your Home

While we may be in the dead of winter, spring and summer will be here before we know it. Well, we at least hope that’s the case. Taking your Christmas decorations down may have made you realize how bare and empty your home is now. Now is a great time to start on those home projects you want to tackle before those warm seasons hit. If you are wanting to do any painting at your Lakefront home at the Lake of the Ozarks, it’s important to have a great color scheme picked out. Mission Bay knows that choosing the right color scheme for your design style and your home can be an overwhelming process. We have some tips for you in this week’s blog.

Finding The Perfect Color Scheme

First off, colors are personal and choosing the perfect color scheme means you have to first establish your personal style and taste. Once that is established, you then have to decide what kind of tone you want to set in your house. We know, it already sounds stressful. When you lay it out, it becomes easier and not as overwhelming.

Tip: Most people think it’s best to start with your paint colors first. But it helps if you pick out your furniture, and décor items and then move onto paint colors. Finding the furniture you need/want will be a harder task. Finding a paint color to match your furniture will be a lot easier than trying to find furniture to match your paint color.

Start With The Room You Use The Most

This room is usually the living room or kitchen, or possibly both if you have an open floor plan. By starting where you spend most of your time and working your way out, can prove to be helpful. Think of it as having a to-do list and tackling the hardest, most challenging task first. Keep in mind, what you choose for your main living spaces will set the tone for the rest of your house.

Tip: when choosing paint or accent colors for your kitchen, keep in mind what is already there. Things like countertop, cabinet, and appliance colors are all important factors.

Colors vs. Neutrals

If you are wanting to pick a bold paint color that pops, it may be best to stick to furniture that is more neutral, both in color and design. If you’re wanting more of a neutral paint color, you may want to add some colorful accessories or décor pieces to add some depth to the room. When it comes to paint colors and decorating, having some contrast is great.

Find Inspiration From Your Closet and Everyday Life

When it comes down to finding colors you love, your closet may be one of the best places to look. You may have a closet that is mainly whites and blacks, or your closet may be full of pops of color. This should be great inspiration for you! Whatever colors you find yourself wearing all the time, are colors that will more than likely inspire you when it comes to your home.

Your Dream Home At Mission Bay

When it comes down to paint and color schemes, it’s all about personal preference. No one can pick colors for you, while there are tools to help you, it’s ultimately your choice. Next time you are wanting to change up your Lakefront home at the Lake of the Ozarks, we hope you keep these tips in mind. If you haven’t checked out Mission Bay, our year-round development at the Lake of the Ozarks, stop by today! Your dream home is waiting.

Live The Lake Life

While the fun summers and the view and beauty of the Lake may be some of the first things that draw you into buying a Lakefront home at the Lake of the Ozarks, there are many other benefits of being right on the water. While it may not take much convincing to relocate to the Lake of the Ozarks, more importantly, Mission Bay, here are six benefits of living on the water.

Beautiful Views

The beautiful view of the Lake of the Ozarks that you get to enjoy every day is often the deciding factor in buying a waterfront location. The development at Mission Bay is structured, so most of our Lakefront home will always enjoy the stellar Lake view. The 1400' seawall and Lakefront cart path provide a place to not only access the community docks, but also a place to take in the view.

Privacy

When you have a waterfront property at the Lake of the Ozarks, it provides seclusion from the hustle and bustle of the city. One of the greatest things about Mission Bay is the location. Conveniently situated on Twin Rivers Road, this residential development at the Lake of the Ozarks is just 6 minutes from Camdenton. With such a great location on the Lake, you can get almost anywhere by car or boat quickly.

Relaxation

Looking out across the Lake from your deck can certainly help you ease your stress. Soaking up the cool Lake breeze or warm rays of sunshine can be quite refreshing. Start your day with a beautiful sunrise and a cup of coffee and then end the day by washing away the stress with a beautiful Lake sunset. At Mission Bay, the relaxing benefits of Lake living are endless!

The Lake

The Lake being right in your backyard is definitely a benefit of a Lakefront property. It's easy to participate in fun water activities like boating, canoeing, kayaking, skiing, swimming and more since the Lake is right at your fingertips. While other families have to load up the car and drive (sometimes for hours) to see the water, you can get out and enjoy the Lake whenever the mood strikes. The Mission Bay property is a 28-acre peninsula that juts out into the Osage Arm at the 32 MM with 3,400 feet of shoreline. Imagine all the fun you and your family could have while living at the Lake of the Ozarks!

Resale Value

Homes near the water, especially those that feature spectacular views and ease of access, have historically held higher value and increased in value more quickly than other homes because they are a limited commodity. Even homes that are relatively close to the water tend to be worth more than homes that are landlocked. When it comes to protecting your investment or providing a great opportunity to grow your equity, homes near the water are the clear winners.

Healthy Lifestyle

It's easy to live a healthy lifestyle when you live near the water, as there are plenty of opportunities to stay active. When you live near the water, you can partake in unique exercises, such as rowing, paddle boarding, kayaking and more.
