6 Benefits of Living on the Water

While it may the natural beauty that first peaks your interest of buying a lakefront home at the Lake of the Ozarks, a closer look will show you a strong economy with abundant employment opportunities and an exceptional quality of life! While relocating lakeside may not take much convincing, here are 5 benefits of living on the water:

1. Spectacular Views

The ability to wake up to breathtaking sunrises over the Lake is a driving force behind many people's decision to move to a waterfront location. The development at Mission Bay is beautifully tiered so that most lake view homes will always enjoy the stellar lake views. The 1400' seawall and lakefront cart path provides a place to not only access the community docks, but also to take in the view!

2. Privacy

Living on the water provides seclusion from the hustle and bustle of the city. One of the great things about Mission Bay is the convenient location. Located on Twin Rivers Road, this new residential development at the Lake of the Ozarks is just 6 minutes from Camdenton via the improved Highway 5. With such a great location on the Lake, you can get most anywhere by car or water quickly!

3. Relaxation

Looking out across the Lake from your deck can ease your stress. Soaking up the cool Lake breeze or warm rays of sunshine can be quite refreshing. Start your day with a beautiful sunrise and then wash away the stress of the day with a beautiful Lake sunset. The relaxing benefits of Lake living are endless here at Mission Bay. Stop by and see for yourself during one of our open houses every Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 3 PM!

4. Fun Activities

With the Lake right at your fingertips, its easy to participate in fun water activities such as boating, canoeing, fishing, skiing, swimming and more! While other families have to load the car and drive for hours to see the water, you can get out and play whenever the mood strikes. The Mission Bay property is a 28-acre peninsula which juts out into the Osage Arm at approximately the 32 mile marker, with 3,400 feet of shoreline. Imagine all the fun your family could have living at the Lake of the Ozarks!

5. Resale Value

Homes near the water, especially those that feature spectacular views and ease of access, have historically held higher value and increased in value more quickly than other homes because they are a limited commodity. Even homes that are relatively close to the water tend to be worth more than homes that are landlocked. When it comes to protecting your investment or providing a great opportunity to grow your equity, homes near the water are the clear winners.

6. Health Benefits

Living near the water promotes a healthy lifestyle by presenting more opportunities to stay fit! By living on the Lake, you can take part in unique exercise such as swimming and rowing. The Lake of the Ozarks homeowners at Mission Bay can enjoy boating, swimming, fishing and more right here on the property. The community docks currently feature 12 x 40 foot slips, 14 x 40 foot slips and PWC slips. Many additional community docks will be purchased, some offering smaller slips. Mission Bay has everything you need for luxury Lake living!

From the relaxing lifestyle and great amenities to stunning views, Mission Bay is Lake living at it's finest! The Legend of Bridal Cave

Centuries before the paleface found his way into the Ozark Mountains, this area was inhabited by the Osage Native American Indians. Many smaller tribes were formed within the Osage tribe. The following legend brought romance and tragedy to this area of the Ozarks and gave the names to many well known places today.

Conwee, son of Chief Neongo of the Big Hills (a tribe of the Osage Indians, which lived on the north shore of what is now known as Ha Ha Tonka State Park), fell in love with Wasena, daughter of Elkhorn, Chief of the Little Hills, who lived on the north side of the Osage River near the junction of the Niangua. He greatly desired that she become his wife. Neither Wasena nor her father looked with favor on his intentions, but Conwee was not discouraged. One dark night, he left his camp at Ha Ha Tonka with a number of his braves, crossed the Osage River near the junction of the Niangua and kidnapped Wasena and her companion, Irona.

Hastily, recrossing the Osage River, Conwee started back to Ha Ha Tonka. As dawn approached and threatened to reveal them to their pursuers, they decided to stop at the cave, now known as Bridal Cave, and conceal their captives. After a short time in the cave, Wasena eluded her captors and ran swiftly toward a high cliff that towers two hundred feet above the Niangua River.  When Conwee had her almost within his grasp, she reached the edge of the cliff and without even a backward glance, sprang over the brink into the valley below, choosing death rather than life with one she did not love. From that day forward this cliff has been known as "Lover's Leap".

The fate of Wasena's companion, Irona, was very different. She had long loved Prince Buffalo, another son of Chief Neongo of the Big Hills Tribe, and brother of Conwee. After a period of mourning over the death of her companion, Irona and her Prince Buffalo chose to be married in the cave where she and Wasena had been held captive. The ceremony took place in the beautiful stalactite-studded room now known as the Bridal Chapel. That's how the cave received the name, "Bridal Cave."

While you're visiting Bridal Cave this weekend, stop by and see the beautiful, residential development that is Mission Bay! Our lake view and waterfront homes at the Lake of the Ozarks are tiered so most lake view homes will always enjoy the stellar lake views. Residents enjoy multiple common areas, parks, and picnic areas, as well as 1400' seawall and lakefront cart path to provide ease of access to community docks. Stop by and check out Lake living at its finest!

Winter Activities at the Lake of the Ozarks

While cruising the Lake in the hot summer sun may be one of the most enjoyed activities here at the Lake of the Ozarks, there's still fun to be had during the Winter season! The waters may be cold, but the view is still spectacular. From shopping to shows, Lake of the Ozarks has plenty of activities for you to enjoy even when the temperature outside is a little chilly. Mission Bay has put together a list of some of the best Winter activities at the Lake for you to check out!

Osage Beach Premium Outlets

Shopping at the Lake of the Ozarks is a year-round activity at the Lake of the Ozarks. However, with the amount of time you spend on the water during the Summer, you may not have much time to get your shopping in. Why not take a trip to the Lake during the Winter? Get your Summer shopping done early and enjoy the outdoors when you come back for Summer 2015! The 110 outlet mall in Osage Beach has plenty of variety to fit the needs of each person in your household.

Bridal Cave

Centuries ago the Osage Native American Indians discovered the pristine beauty that lies beneath Thunder Mountain. Local folklore tells of a legendary Native American Indian wedding ceremony held in the cave in the early 1800s. Today this magnificent natural wonderland is called Bridal Cave. In keeping with the tradition of the Native American legend, the Cave can be reserved for a romantic wedding chapel. Over 2,500 couples from around the world have exchanged vows in the stalactite adorned Bridal Chapel.

Guided tours leave every few minutes and last approximately one hour.  Tours are conducted over concrete pathways through the Cave's refreshing 60 degree environment.   Park interpreters will lead you and your family through room after room of incredible mineral deposits. Giant columns, delicate soda straws and massive draperies abound throughout the cave. Millions of years of struggle between water and rock have created this cavern with more onyx formations than any other known cave or cavern. In fact thousands of school children each year explore Bridal Cave as part of their educational program.  A tour through Bridal Cave is a family adventure you will never forget.

Jacob's Cave

Jacob's Cave is Lake of the Ozarks' largest and most scenic cave. One of Missouri's top tourist attractions, this cave offers family fun that caters to all ages with a fully lit and paved walkway that is completely handicap accessible with no steps. Jacob's Cave is famous for it's depth illusion, reflective pools, ceiling sponge-work, prehistoric bones (mastodon, bear and peccary), and the world's largest geode.

On the mile-long tour, you will see every type of cave formation imaginable, from millions of "soda straws" and massive stalactites and columns, to delicate helectites. Evidence of six ice ages and three earthquakes can be seen in the cave. The temperature remains a constant 53 degrees inside the cave. Located between Versailles and Gravois Mills off Missouri Hwy 5, Jacob's Cave is the largest cave in the Lake area and is the only walk through cave in Missouri that is completely accessible to persons with disabilities.

So what are you waiting for...Lake of the Ozarks is the place to be anytime of year! You can even get off-season discounts at many lodging places and golf courses. While you're here, check out our new residential development at the Lake of the Ozarks.  We have open houses every Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 3 PM. Mission Bay could be your new home or even a second home, a place for you to enjoy living at the Lake of the Ozarks!
