Rather than having a typical sofa, we want a more versatile, soft area that we can sprawl out on however we wish. With a large, padded sectional, you have a nice place to curl up with a blanket and a good book. You now have the option of sitting or laying down, all in the same comfy spot!
2. Mixing Old with the New
A kitchen trend we are starting to see a lot of this year, is pairing contemporary chairs with older, rustic tables. While some may say this is because we can't choose between going contemporary or choosing an older style. However, Details.com thinks there's something else behind the popularity of this look. By pairing two things that don't really seem to go together, you're actually drawing emphasis to the best qualities of both.
3. Blue Color Scheme
Color plays a major part in not only the look, but also the feel of a room. In the chaotic world we live in today, our home should act as a retreat from it all, a place to relax. Blue has traditionally been a calming and relaxing color, making it the perfect color to add to your home. Whether you're looking to paint the walls a new color or just add some accent pillows and other accessories, blue is a great choice this year!
4. Vintage Tubs
You may have noticed the trend of using vintage style tubs to enhance a bathroom, but this trend is really expected to increase in 2015! Sometimes it's nice to retreat to something simple. Another interesting trend we've come across is actually putting these vintage tubs in bedrooms as well. Some people find it luxurious to be able to roll out of bed into a nice, deep tub or vice versa.
5. Four-Poster Beds
Although the four-poster style beds are nothing new, we're seeing more and more of this classic furniture in new home designs. People seem to love the romance that accompanies the pillared pieces. The cube-like style also suggests four walls, providing a more private sanctuary!
6. Black Window Frames
Just like using eyeliner and mascara, drawing a black line around something brings attention to it. The same is true when it comes to housing trends. By adding black trim to a window, you're not only drawing the eye to the beautiful window, but also to the scenery outside!
7. In-Home Libraries
There's something people love about being surrounded by books! In-home libraries are making a come back in 2015, despite the technology transition to e-readers. Libraries preserve memories, memories of characters, words and stories that have touched us in one way or another. The books remind us of where we've been and also who we want to be.
8. Statement Lights
Everyone has that one item that makes a statement of who they are or who they want to be. Many people express this through sports cars or jewelry, and now fancy lighting is being used to make a statement. The most popular statement lighting we're seeing is the grid-like light fixture. The benefit of these lights is they're beautiful no matter which way the switch is flipped. When the lights are off, they look like a sculpture, but when they're switched on, they cast lovely light and shadow patterns around the room!
